Me and my MTB

Finally got the MTB i wanted, here it is...looks ok-lar, boleh tahan, feels solid, got *some* shimano components (dunno real or not?) anyway its good for the knee compared to running (for me-lah atleast), took the bike for a ride, feels good, stable etc..but the butt hurts though maybe the seat is still new & hard or i'm not used to it yet...(and it still hurts..ouch!!)

Here's the gear lever or knob?!

And here's the 7-speed cassette and rear derailer

a close-up of the shimano rear derailer

the front derailer

now the question is...how to teach a 5 year old kid how to ride a bike?

what have the world become?

1st it was the tsunami, then katrina, then the pakistani quake, after *Leeds lost the championship final play-offs, the national under 20 team nearly lost to MYTEAM* and now the java quake!! what will happen next?

has the last century of human innovation and technology caused all this? are we to blame?

TGIF...

thanks god its friday...the last 2 days were....how do i say?! hmmm...can't seem find the word to describe it. yesterday was a rest day for me, went for a sales call with a *macha*, lunch with customer then lepak half day @ the concord training but the phone kept on ringing... :-(

this morning, the final round of concord training, hmm...do i know how to use this tool when it goes live thats the question!! i think i'm gonna spend more time keying information then visit my customers... :-P

after that back to the new *normal* life of quotations, accumulated for the past 1 1/2 day..sigh..and yes, the phone is still ringing..what can i do, there's no one to send them!! they're all away for training...*ugh*

and sadly no squash today, no *kakis*....can't jog too, its pouring cats and dogs outside...look forward to tomorrow though, maybe buying the bike i want...decided on the mountain bike instead...more cost effective ;-) more info on that later...

wish me luck for next week............

on the other note, got lots of quote to generate...and now they tell me i've to put in the project plan and time-line, too!! soooooo....just do it lar!! just like nike says

on the better note, squash was awesome yet again, i whacked sifu 9-3 and whipped gene 9-0, 9-0...muahahahahahahah!!! sad part of this is i only managed to play 3 games, since mr goh FFK we decided to call it a day much earlier and also they claimed i was playing with a 3rd eye...whatever that means...i'd say it was that bouncy girl at the next court was causing the distraction!! ;-P

Leeds 0, Watford 3

Leeds LOST!!!! ahhhh........but if look on the other side, if Leeds were to be promoted to the premiership next season and playing like they played yesterday, it looks very likely they'll be relegated the following season, just like Sunderland...i'd rather have them play in the championship and grow even stronger as a team and challenge for an automatic promotion the following season.

and finally congratulations to Watford...

the cruise

Looks like the cruise is going to be a long one, I bet we'll see rough seas too, I'm in deep s**t, f**ked big time, have to do something about it, but what?! think boy! think!!

Get together yesterday...

We finally met up @ Fatty Crab yesterday...everyone was there @ 8pm, Evon, Tan and wifey, Colin, Cathy and myself...as I thought, the rest had something on or another, 2 had to *jaga anak*, 1 was away, 1 went drinking with other buddies, 1 had to do a POC (proof of concept)....

anyway, it was a good session, had crabs (2 different styles - 4 katis somemore), fried chick wings, steam fish & not forgetting the ever important fried rice :-)

i felt it was a good session, getting to know what everyone did after they left CSA (except for Tan though!) the experience they got from outside and looking back at the good times @ CSA...had lots of laugh and memories...hahhh....

Celcom signs Gerrard, Owen, Giggs and Pires

EPL superstars Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Ryan Giggs and Robert Pires have signed on with Celcom to promote its services. The footballers have already shot an advertisement in Manchester three weeks ago and the short film will be aired on local TV today. And they are expected to come to Malaysia in August or September to shoot another advertisement.

Feel better but still......

Luckily I survived yesterday, the day was bad! wasn't myself, the medication is...*uggghh*...so I didn't take any this morning, hopefully the cold won't act up.

Tried to jog yesterday, just to sweat it out but couldn't, instead I just took a brisk walk around the neighborhood...after an hour and half of walking, sweat and *better* air, I did feel better.

And tonight, am going to have crabs for dinner with some ex-colleagues @ fatty crabs, it took awhile for everyone to decide...I know!! I know!! I'm still sick but hey wouldn't want to miss it for the world to meet up with some old friends, right?

Leeds vs Watford

get together....

its hell to organize a get together these days....wait!! its been hell since day one anyway :-P but somehow its even worst nowadays...everyone is doing their own thing after work - family, gym, squash, BB, movies...the list goes on...so you can't really blame them. the *slack* part is people take aim at you for choosing the time and date...out of goodwill, you're just trying to organize a *non-productive* time to meet up, eat and catch up on old times...some dun reply, some says dates not good, some says food not good...blah..blah..blah....mind then, suggest the date, time and venue instead...but no.....

maybe its time for "silence means consent" again and start charging for no show :-)

Leeds 1-1 Preston

Eddie Lewis' superb free-kick helped Leeds fight back to earn a draw in a tense first leg of the Championship play-off semi-final against Preston. *phew*

Hopefully they'll perform better tonight and we'll be in the premiership next season.

Meanwhile congratulations to Arsenal for securing a Champions league spot. *he!he!* I hope Henry's hatrick can help me leapfrog "BT Super XI" in the Yahoo Fantasy Football to emerge champion!!

sickkkk....sickkkk...ugh...

i dread being sick and hate medication...and worst I can feel it coming...the whole body is aching *ouch!*, the doc says some ponstan should help...the throat is red aka sore throat and says cough will follow....and here's the cough mixture...hmm...you might have fever too..here's some panadol...since its viral so no anti-biotic for you...the full blown may take effect in 4 to 5 days time...*Aaahhhhhhh!!* and here's your MC go back have some rest and stay away from the kids!!

McClaren named as England manager

Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has been appointed the next England manager, ending months of speculation over Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor since Scolari turned down the offer.

"This is the biggest honour that any coach can have, and is obviously the highlight of my career," he said.

"It's a massive challenge and one that I welcome. I have hugely enjoyed my time at Middlesbrough and am very grateful to the club.

"However, this was an opportunity I couldn't refuse and I'm probably the proudest man in England today.

"To manage your country is the greatest honour which can be bestowed on anyone.

McClaren made his way to London from his Yorkshire home on Thursday and arrived at the FA's Soho Square headquarters at 1540 BST. He was immediately rushed inside through a media scrum before an official announcement was made at 1620 BST. And together with Barwick, he signed his deal in front of the assembled media at around 1640 BST.

So we won't be seeing Mr Beckham doing the samba after all...

Product Configurator

had my second product configurator training yesterday...what do i think? dunno about the rest but for me, ok lar nothing different from the last time...the configurator could be better...as always! wasn't that impressive, ain't flexible at all, too many working mechanism, still require lots of *orangmatic* ("orang" as is people in malay and "matic" of automatic) process and the internal process and procedures requires lots of fine tuning...but hey atleast look on the bright side, i can get a quote out more quickly...wait...what if the verification done by someone else is taking even longer?! aaahhhhhhh.......

Salt Crystal Lamps

The *in-thing* nowadays..i've also caught with this trend..blame it on Janice *ha!ha!* she got it cheap for me...asked around earlier and they do cost a bomb...well i now have 2 of them, 1 at home in the bedroom and the other in office. The air in this office is a bit..... (let just say i need this for myself :-) ) the time I was here (FYI, that's 9 months), I was sick more than the past 2 years combined *sigh*, so had to something about it...

Some info on salt crystal lamps, they help improve the quality of the air by producing negative ions (thanks to NWChong I was introduced to this negative ions thingy - Titan minus ION wrist bands aka the golfing *in-thing*).

Most people are aware of the health benefits of negative ions and know that they are essential for our health and well being. Our environment has far more sources of positive ions than in the past, creating an electrical imbalance in the air. Electrical and electronic appliances such as heating and cooling systems, computers, transmitters, televisions and mobile phones all produce positive ions which are are detrimental to our health, and positive ions also result from exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke.

It also shows that salt crystal lamps can increase the negative ion count by up to 300%. Negative Ions are created naturally by wind, sunlight, surf, waterfalls and rainstorms. Generally, a negative ion is an electronically charged molecule made up of oxygen. A positive ion in the air is a molecule that has lost its electrons through the process of air pollution. In ordinary, fresh country air we find up to 4000 negative ions per cubic centimetre and near strong surf or close to a waterfall up to 10.000 negative ions can be found. This can decrease to less than 100 in major cities during the rush hour!

And happened to stumble on a website that says Ionised air also substantially reduces the number of airborne bacteria indoors. Dr. Albert Krueger of University of California, a leading microbiologist and experimental pathologist found that even a very small quantity of negative ions could kill bacteria. hmmm..so keeping my fingers crossed on this...

Salt crystal lamps are ideal for daily use near televisions and computers, around smokers, in offices with air-conditioning, and everywhere else where you want to restore or preserve the natural air quality.

So I have it next to my notebook in the office..kiasu and kiasi mah!

Oh man...Leeds lost again...the last game of the season!! Then again they'll be playing the first leg play-offs this Friday...so what! :-D

In a tactical move Mr Blackwell put in an understrength Leeds team that went down 2-0 to Preston...He rested a number of players (infact eight of them), it was clear he's preparing for he play-off's...don't wanna risk any more injuries...

so good luck Leeds, good luck Ken Bates, good luck Kevin Blackwell...may I see you in the Premier League next season..I salute you.

Eriksson set to gamble on Rooney

England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is poised to take Wayne Rooney to the World Cup despite his broken foot.

"Wayne is a world-class player and we will give him every chance to play in the World Cup; with such a huge talent you have to do that." Eriksson said.

So is England finally playing some last minute *mind* games?

Fri squash...

Friday game was good, a decent *kau-kau* game. Stamina is an issue, very evident when playing with Mr Goh and took toll when playing with Mr Hoe. Nearly gave up on the 2nd game eventhough leading 8-5. Note to self, look into own fitness, how to improve.
