MV Doulos
The world’s largest floating book fair, the MV Doulos, which has over 6,000 titles and 500,000 books on board, is visiting Malaysia again. The vessel is scheduled to arrive at Port Klang today and will be opened to the public at the Star Cruise terminal from July 6 to 31.
The book fair will be opened by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Maximus J. Ongkilli on July 6. The books cover a wide range of subjects such as science, sports, hobbies, cookery, arts and philosophy.
Every year, more than 200 young people join the all-volunteer crew and staff (currently there are 320 volunteers on board from various countries) for one to two years of training and cross-cultural exposure. Since 1977, more than 18 million visitors have been on board the vessel, which has travelled to 102 countries and visited over 500 ports.
I have personally went on board (twice in-fact) many years ago when i was a kid and its an experience!! you should give it a try.
